Are you our new Scientific Operations Manager?

 

We are looking for a professional to coordinate and oversee the operations of an award winning, innovative, growing company serving the In Vitro Diagnostics and Biotech markets.

 

How you will make an Impact:

The Operations Manager role is mainly to implement the right processes and practices across the organisation.

 

In this role, you will:

  • Manage budgets and carry out general administrative duties
  • Ensure the smooth running of the laboratory
  • Identifying and evaluating capital equipment and negotiating with suppliers
  • Implementing automation and KAIZEN philosophy in the laboratory
  • Identifying and hiring new staff when necessary
  • Mentor, supervise and train laboratory staff
  • Write Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
  • Compare performance of diagnostic test kits available on the market and identify the best ones to use for in house screening procedures
  • Troubleshoot existing methods
  • Identify process improvement opportunities, adherence to Health & Safety rules and ensure a high standard of the general lab environment
  • Keep abreast of scientific research and developments in the sector
  • Work with Supply Chain Manager to ensure effective rotation of stock and reduce overstocking
  • Establish new manufacturing processes

 

We are looking for people who have:

  • At least 2-5 years of experience in management
  • Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Science
  • Excellent leadership skills and ability to develop relationships with colleagues
  • Effective intercultural communication skills, both written and verbal 
  • Proven project management skills
  • Ability to create Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's) and maintain accurate laboratory records
  • Strong continuous improvement mindset
  • Knowledgeable in Six Sigma, KanBan, the Lean Methodology of product-process development 
  • Antibody and antigen, antisera depletion, acid development, purification experience
  • GLP, GMP, ISO 14385- Specific one for IVD
  • Manufacturing experience- understanding of life/cycle of product, not only testing manufacture experience
  • MUST be based within 1 hour of Sittingbourne, Kent
